Hope on the Horizon
The Greek philosopher Aristotle is reported to have said "Pain upsets and destroys the persons who feels it." However, there are some very important factors that you have to think about relative to learning how to cope and manage your chronic pain.
People living with chronic pain life is tough and it is exhausting. Some of the information I found in this list,I do myself. It is a guide for people with chronic pain.Something I need...until I became ill,I followed in my mother's footsteps. She was like the energizer bunny, going and going.Everything had to be done, nothing left undone. The house just so,laundry done,go,go,go.I did it for years.Raising three daughters, employed outside the home, helping my husband with business venutures.Superwoman.
No more.I just can't and I have to learn that it's ok.
* Wanting everything to be the way it used to be prior to the injury, pain, or problem. Everything has changed now and you have to work on grieving over your past abilities and then moving on to find ways of living with your capabilities as they are now, pacing activities, and being more realistic about what you can and cannot do.
* Trying to get everything done when feeling good because you know you will feel bad later. This insures that you will have even more bad times and many ups and downs with your pain problems.
* Forgetting to take breaks every twenty minutes, to change positions, do something different, or just to rest. It is easy for time to get away from you and have a few hours pass since you have moved or slowed down.
* Thinking that it will all get better "if I push hard enough and work to get back to where I was before." This is a major mistake. You can improve and be more functional, but now some things have changed and you have to learn an entirely new way of handling things.
----------------------------- ----------------------------- ----------------------------- -
These are just a few,reminders...we may not be who we were.We have to adjust our priorities.I'm wishing I had done it years ago.
I have to put myself first now,I don't have a choice.I wish I had done it when I was well,I can't go back. But I refuse to carry extra baggage,so I'm getting rid of my guilt bag,for good.
In doing that,it leaves room for hope.I'll take hope over guilt any day.

We are not superhumans.
Everybody need love and the love needed is mostly for ourselves. One needs to feel good about oneself.
It is not selfish to love and nurture yourself.
Give yourself time and allow yourself to take a break. Start with five minutes a day inf not possible more. Five minutes - time for you and nothing else.
