Information and Sharing tips on migraine
April 3rd 2008 13:56
I have been surfing around just to see what's out there for information on migraine. The first thing I have to say, anything that says "cure" scares me.You may still want to take a look at it.Some people are well meaning and believe that if it worked for them,it's a cure. There is no cure for migraine. Now,there are things that have worked for some people,so,it may be worth it for you to look into.
Just be careful what you end up spending money on.I notice lately, the media is putting down aromatherapy.Oh,they say,it's a placebo effect...to me,that's like saying don't meditate.I love aromatherapy.Again,I think the some in the medical community doesn't want you to do anything that may cut into their end of making money.
Migraine is not a one size fits all disease and there's not going to be one thing that works for everyone.I can tell you,for me,I miss my hot tub.If I could,I'd have one right now.The one at the fitness center, well, the lighting is just too bright. The bathtub is a great place,if you like lots of bubbles and if you have jets, try using them when you first get in.Have candles, maybe scented and when you turn the jets off, maybe have quiet music playing.
When I need to have my space,I make sure I have my sound machine. They are wonderful.I can't stand complete quiet,I get ringing in my ears.My favorite is the creek or waterfall.A mask is good and there are alot of choices.Take a look around and you may even want to have a couple of them,or even a variety.
Let's not forget keep hydrated.Especially with summer coming up.Drink alot of water. For flavor, slice up a lemon,an orange.this will also make the drink more attractive. If I have a plain glass of water,it'll just sit there.
Take a look at what you eat.I've never been one for chips or that type of snack. But sweets, forget about it.I treat myself once in awhile with chocolate or a doughnut. Now getting ready for the hot weather,I'll turn to strawberries, watermelon, orang es and apples.I also went out and got myself a really good juicer.Usually,I won't spend $100.00 on myself, but this was for my health.I had started out with a cheaper juicer, but there's so much waste. This juicer,I've had for over a year.I chose the Jack Lalane juicer.I have carrot juice every day.Usually I throw in an apple and/or an orange.
I've already got a variety of hats and 2 pairs of sunglasses. The light is a major trigger for me.I don't care what time of year, sunglasses it is,even in the stores.Florescent lights, ouch!
If you don't have a good support system around you, family, friends, you may want to look for a group in your area.Ask your doctor about a chronic pain group. If there isn't one, look online.Take a good look. Some forums are really good, others, since people are in pain, things can get a little sensitive.
I do have a website mymigraines.com that I work, gathering articles and information on migraine.I have a forum and membership is building at a steady pace. The forum is there,I am looking for members to join that would like to participate on the forums.
Who knows, your experience, you may have some tips to share that may help someone in real need.
