Your migraine at school

Here are some easy steps you can take at school to help prevent a migraine attack:
* Please be aware of your stress level. School is one place that can raise your anxiety level! Add migraine to that and wow! Take time out,be patient with yourself.
* Foods can give you a migraine attack; everyone is different so watch out for any food triggers. Include drinks in this, too.
* White boards and painted white walls can be harsh on you; try different areas in the classroom before your class begins, to find out where you will be most comfortable.
* Dehydration can be a trigger for an attack.Drink 1 - 2 litres of water each day
*Make sure that you don't go longer than 3 or 4 hours without food during the day. Take snacks to school to keep your blood sugars level.
If you do get a lot of migraine attacks at school and need to quickly leave the classroom, talk to your doctor about having a note on file at school. This way,the school admin and your teachers will be aware, this is very important.
This can mean you can be excused quickly, which can be very important if you are feeling sick.
Let close friends know, educate them about migraine disease. I provide a lot of migraine information here on my blog. Support is very important. Don't be surprised if people don't always "get it" The attitude of "oh,it's just a headache" has been promoted in our society.
Take care of yourself. Keep coming here, ask me a question...I will research it for you.
I will be doing more blogging on this..more info..more support!
